STEAM Fair

Join us for the Concord STEAM Fair on Wednesday, March 6 from 6-7:30 pm

This is an optional event for all Concord students to have fun with science, technology, engineering, art, and math.  Students will have an opportunity to display and present a STEAM project that they create at home.  Everyone can participate in hands-on activities with our event partners.

New for 2024:

Any adult entering the building during morning drop off needs to check in via the raptor system in the main office.  If your child needs help to bring their project to the flex space, please sign in via the office entrance or leave their project with a volunteer at the back entrance.

On the evening of the fair, the back entry doors will not be unlocked until 6 pm for the safety of the students in Kids Club.

Note for 5th grade families: The teacher-led 5th grade zoo projects will be on display during the fair but do not need to be registered.  5th grade students are welcome and encouraged to do an additional project as part of the STEAM Fair.

Before the Fair:

Brainstorm and choose a project.  See topic ideas here or choose your own.  Decide if you will work alone or in a team of up to three students. Choose a project that you will enjoy working on and learning about.  Remember that this is a student project but parents are invited to help with obtaining materials and supervising experiments.

Register your project here before March 3, so we can plan accordingly.

Complete your project and design your presentation.  Review the STEAM Fair checklist and recommended display format here.  36 x 48 tri fold project display boards can be found at Walmart, Joann Fabric, Hobby Lobby, Office Depot, and others.  If you need financial assistance please contact the Concord social worker (Michelle Bogener).

Bring your project to school on the morning of the fair (March 6) and check in with the volunteer in your grade level flex space between 7:30 and 8:00 am.

Parents please volunteer here to make the event a success.

At the Fair:

Present your project.  Each grade will have a set time where students should be near their projects and ready to present.  They will give formal presentations to our visiting scientists (Edina High School students) as well as informal presentations to fellow students, family, and friends.

Please try to be at your project at the following times to present.
Grades K-1 between 6:00 and 6:30 pm
Grades 2-3 between 6:30 and 7:00 pm
Grades 4-5 between 7:00 and 7:30 pm

Explore the fabulous projects in all the grade level flex spaces and complete the (optional) scavenger hunt to be in a drawing for cool STEAM prizes.

Check out the STEAM expo in the gym with stations from our amazing event partners, including 3M and Edina Robotics.

Please take your project home at the end of the evening.
